Over the Moon Baby Shower

Very thankful for my best friend being pregnant, because the event planner inside me was dying to throw some type of shin-dig. So, a baby shower it was! We decided on an 'Over the Moon' theme, decked with moons and stars and accented with blush pink and gold. Then she gave the reigns to me, trusting I would do my best to make it the best baby shower ever. I started with designing the invitations, this was probably my favorite part because I love the excuse to design something.

We chose to have the baby shower at Dempsey's Burger Pub East. This is a local place that serves the best food and also happens to have an incredible and affordable event room. The staff there was so accommodating, easy to work with and made anything we wanted come to life. The decor was gold, gold glitter and blush pink. With star and moon confetti on the tables, star garland and themed cookies. The pictures do my descriptions much better justice. We decided on a brunch time, so we provided finger foods like pastry trays, fruit, cheese and crackers. Our desserts included Connie's Cookies sugar cookies, cheesecake bites plus some chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels I made. Our backdrop was made of white tulle and satin and adorned with gold glitter star garland and a pink 'baby' balloon.

We decided against games, it was going to be a big shower and a lot of people coming and going so we decided on some other fun activities instead. We had a guest book of a Dr. Suess book called Are You My Mother? where guests signed their names and wrote little messages. We had a late-night diaper decorating station where guests wrote fun things on diapers to make them smile when they're up at three a.m. on diaper duty. We also did a notes to Acelynn station, where guests wrote on notecards (that were the same theme as the invites) with sweet notes or advice for Acelynn. This was my favorite activity because there were friends and family who wrote advice and messages for Acelynn that she'll get to read once she's older and look back on all who came to the shower. And of course, there was a gift table and a bench decorated for the parents-to-be to sit on while opening. We had a 'baby' playlist playing the whole time with any song I could find with the word 'baby' or 'girl' in it. It was a nice touch.

This was the most fun to plan and the best to see come together because I got to watch my best friend and her baby girl be celebrated. I found a lot of inspiration from Pinterest (big shocker) and Etsy. Planning, executing and designing for events is something I have a huge passion for and will take on the chance to do it whenever I can. I love the whole start to finish process and like to design or create things wherever I can, although I'm a HUGE fan of the amazing things people create and sell on Etsy. If you know me, you know that doing this was right up my alley and gave me so much joy. P.S. - I'm available for anyone with upcoming events. ;)

Congrats to my bff!
